Workshop organized by Ben during a PAREO outing, Moéhli @A.Marque

Ben, could you tell us about your background and the PAREO project?

Ever since I was a teenager, I've wanted to get involved in environmental protection associations. Until one day I said to myself why not do environmental studies with the aim of improving protection methods, and my wishes have come true.

The PAREO - Educational Marine Area (EMA) project was launched six months ago, but its success makes the AME seem like a project from six years ago or more.

This project helps students identify the area where they will install the EMA. The choice is given to the group of students expressing more arguments about their choice.

You were recently in Mauritius to report on your activities, alongside PAREO delegations from other countries. What did you take away from this event?

Our stay in Mauritius was very beneficial both socially and professionally.

First of all, I learned about cultures other than my own, and the PAREO team turned from a professional team into a family.

On a professional level, I learned a lot about managing a group in an event context. But I also had the chance to talk to Prisca SINIVASSIN and Pascale CHABANET from IRD, about managing and assembling supporting documents. Finally, we shared teaching methods with all the PAREO delegations, who showed us their working methods.
