Halloi, could you tell us a little about your background and what drew you to the environmental field?

First of all, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my family, and especially my father, who has always been there to support me and encourage me to study in the environmental field; not forgetting Lola Massé, PAREO's coordinator, who gave me the opportunity to discover the aquatic world, a wonderful world that was hiding right in front of me.

What do you like about the PAREO project?

Firstly, the fact that it's aimed at children means a lot to me. As an animator, I'm happy every time we organize activities with children. Especially when we launch them out onto the reef, because they're so happy! When the children feel good, it reflects on us, the animators.

Also, thanks to the PAREO Project, the children learn about the reef and get involved in protecting the coral reefs of the Indian Ocean. I'm happy to be part of this dynamic and I'm so envious of these children, because I would have loved to have been in their shoes, to have had this opportunity as a child.

Last but not least, we're a close-knit team, which I really like.

What has the project brought you personally?

The PAREO Project has brought me a lot of things I didn't expect. Today I find myself with a different image (status), with a wealth of experience and scientific knowledge of the marine and terrestrial environment.

I also had the opportunity to discover Mauritius for the big restitution in November 2023, and to visit extraordinary places like Ile aux Fouquets. While I was there, I also benefited from a launch that enabled me to see the difference between the state of our coral reef in the Comoros-Mohéli and the state of the coral reef in Mauritius.

So I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the PAREO project manager, Pascale Chabanet, who came up with the idea of creating this project.
